Auxin(s)? What are those?

Auxin(s) are a class of plant hormone that play a vital role in the growth and behavior of a plant’s life cycle. The word Auxin is derived from a Greek word “auxano” or “I grow.” The auxins role in a plant’s development is to provide coordination signals that determine the plant’s growth pattern, size, nutrient requirements, or other data to ensure the plant’s growth. The plant cell is made up of cellulose, proteins and, in many cases, lignin. It is very firm and prevents any sudden expansion of cell volume and without the contribution of auxins, any expansion at all. Essentially the auxins coordinate development at all levels in plants, from the cellular level to organs and ultimately the whole plant.

Auxinews is a Blog that was created by Forest Products Solutions to provide the same kind of coordination signals between the growing Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) industry and the green building industry. As both industries continue to grow, improved internal-industry and cross-industry coordination is going to be required for us to be successful in reaching our growth potential. In my nine years of working between these two industries I have learned that there are still vast areas where education, cooperation and information sharing could be mutually beneficial to FSC-certified companies and green building project teams/professionals. One of the aims of Auxinews is to provide information to the FSC-certified companies about the green building industry so we can better connect, communicate, and grow our shared future.
